Exhibition News at St Michael's

A busy venue with much to see, St Michael's is delighted to be able to show the work of 10 individual artists, with work ranging from painting, drawing and print to soundworks, boxed sculptures, photographic and video installations.

The church is also hosting the Auction of artworks created specially for Art on the Hill by participating artists, and taking place on both days during exhibition opening hours.

Local schoolchildren are showing work too: children from St Mary Redcliffe Primary will be displaying some exciting work done as part of their recent Arts Week celebrations with its underlying theme of art and geography. As well as this, children from our four local primary schools are taking part in workshops to produce a display on the theme of angels and dragons for Michaelmas.

There's a great variety of work exhibited at St Michael's, but there are also many links to be made between works – people and their different environments often represented. The church is a large, light and beautiful Victorian building boasting a newly commissioned West Door and walkway by artists Stuart Low (exhibiting) and Martyn Lintern, as well as 18th century paintings by a pupil of Caracci.

The church will be a lively venue, and celebrates its Harvest Festival with a Choral Evensong on Sunday 30th at 6.30 pm to which all are welcome, followed by a harvest meal for which tickets will be available.

Refreshments available during the day too!
